Our Company

Flexiprint is a Board of Investment (BOI) approved Sri Lankan company specializing in manufacturing high quality tea tags, tea envelopes, tagged pyramid-mesh tea bags, and flexible labels. The company was founded in 1994 by Sathis Abeywickrama, who is the pioneer of flexo press technology and water-based inks in Sri Lanka. Initially established in a 35,000sqft space at Dematagoda, Flexiprint expanded into a new 95,000sqft plant at Kadawatha in 2018 which is equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies capable of producing around 85 to 100 million premium tags per day. Apart from the tea industry, we also play a major role in flexible label sector catering to diverse industries including cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and beverage.

Within less than two decades, Flexiprint has secured esteemed customers spread across the world in Asia, Europe, Africa, & North America. We are currently the No.1 supplier of tea bag tags, tea envelopes & pyramid mesh tea bag in Sri Lanka - the 3rd largest tea exporter in the world and Dubai catering to more than 62% and 50% of the respective market needs. All our products are manufactured using high quality biodegradable & food grade material that comply with global standards for color, food and quality while delivering premium products in the shortest possible lead times, exceeding client expectations.

Since its inception, Flexiprint has consolidated its position as the market leader in the industry and aspires to be a carbon neutral company in the future. We have taken strides to reach our environmental sustainability goals by powering our factory with solar power, integrating a high-end water treatment plant and introducing a fully automated waste management & recycle system.

A Timely Establishment

  • In the 1990s, Sri Lanka’s well-established tea industry faced a serious want of efficient and quality tags, labels, and packaging. The customers were desperate, and ready to import tea tags and tea envelopes should there be no other way. Answering this timely requirement in 1994 Flexi Print is born in a 35,000sqft space in Dematagoda, bringing the flexo-way to the market. On the 2nd of November in the same year, we register as a BOI company

  • In 1995 we obtain our first set of Propheteer machines, and introduce water-based ink as opposed to dye-based. This is our impetus for a green vision

A Merged Growth

  • Flexi Print starts in-house platemaking using solvents by 2002, making the overall process quicker than ever. In 2003 with our in-house Waste Treatment Plant, we ensure that as technology grows, so does our eco-consciousness

  • From 2004 to 2009, Flexi Print wins Lanka Star Awards from the Sri Lankan institute of Packaging, marking excellence within a short time since our start

  • The in-house Tagged Pyramid-Mesh Department opens in 2009

Remarkable Excellence

  • With 4 awards in 2011 at Lanka Star Awards, securing the Best Exporter Award at the Presidential Export Awards from 2010 to 2013, Flexi Print bourgeons in every way

  • In 2013 we open the “Flexi-Labels” Department with cutting-edge UV ink label printing machines and our in-house environment friendly Thermal Platemaking System. Thus we remain true to growing greener with our advancements

  • In 2014 Flexi Print wins 6 awards at once in Lanka Star Awards, and in 2015 with 7 awards bagged-together, we are recognized as the unsurpassable leader in Asian Flexo-printing

  • In 2015 we are also awarded with the Asia Star Trophy at the Asia Star Awards ceremony in Turkey, organized by the Asian Packaging Federation

A story that continues

  • 2016 marks new beginnings, as Flexi Print opens in a new 95,000sqft industrial location, at the Flinth Industrial Park-Kadawatha

  • Winning the Silver award at the Asian Flexographic Awards for three consecutive years (2012-2014), Flexi Print wins the Gold Award in 2016 at the Asian Flexographic Awards organized by the Asian Flexographic Technical Association

  • In the same year, we develop and install a short-thread to long-thread switchable Pyramid-mesh Tagging Machine, which increases to 13 Pyramid-mesh Tagging Machines by 2018

  • In 2017, we procure new flexo machines for our tag-envelope department, totaling 6 machines, adding more technical muscle to an already sky-rising company

  • By 2020, Flexi Print has procured and installed additional UV-label Flexo Press increasing label printing capacity by more than two fold

Flexiprint is dedicated to serve the Sri Lankan and international tea-bag tag, tea envelope and tagged pyramid tea-bag market while holding a market share of 63% of the local value added tea-packers. Flexiprint is also a market leader in providing the highest quality printed self-adhesive labels, tags and other labels for the FMCG, pharmaceutical and apparel industries. With 27 years’ experience in the trade, we hold a substantial market share overseas as we supply Asia-Pacific, Middle-East, EU and the American regions. Our international customer portfolio is all encompassing and includes prestigious customers from Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, India, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, the UK, USA, Kenya and Rwanda.

Being strategically located near Colombo, having close access to the highway system and the international airport, we are the most accessible print-partner your company can have.

Our equipment boasts the highest productivity in the market.

We have the capacity to produce above 400 km of printed material per day while assuring unparalleled quality standards that Flexiprint has been known to deliver since its inception.

Our staff takes pride in their customer-centric approaches to serve our valuable customers and is highly trained within their respective departments. All machine operation and technical staff along with the laboratory personnel are trained under industry professionals and were given first hand training overseas with machinery supplier companies.

Awards and Recognition

Flexi Print has won awards from the Asian Label Association and the Asian Flexographic Technical Association from 2010 to 2016, winning mostly gold and silver and a rare bronze. Flexi Print was the “Winner of Presidential Export Awards” awarded by the government of Sri Lanka in 2010 to 2013, again in 2017 and 2018, after which it stopped sending its entry for the award
